Application ProcessStep-by-Step: How to Apply & Sit the Exam
Create Your Account on the Salama Portal
Visit the DHA's official licensing portal at haad.ae (Salama). Click "New User Registration" and fill in your personal details, email address, and mobile number. This portal will manage your entire licensing journey — keep your login credentials safe.
Apply for Dataflow Verification
Dataflow is an independent document verification service. You must apply separately at dataflowgroup.com. Dataflow verifies your educational certificates, experience letters, and Good Standing Certificate directly with the issuing authorities. This process can take 4–12 weeks — start this first. Fees range from approximately USD 140–300 depending on the number of documents.
Submit Your DHA Licensing Application
Log into the Salama portal and select "Apply for License." Choose your category: Allied Health Professional → OT Technician. Upload all required documents in the specified format (JPEG/PDF) and pay the application fee. You can track your application status directly on the portal.
Receive Your Exam Eligibility Letter
Once your application is approved and Dataflow verification is complete, the DHA will email you an Eligibility Letter containing your unique Candidate ID. You cannot schedule your exam without this letter. Expect to wait 4–8 weeks after submitting your application.
Schedule Your Exam via Pearson VUE
With your Eligibility Letter in hand, visit pearsonvue.com/dha and use your DHA Candidate ID to book a seat at your nearest authorized test center. Centers are available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and internationally. A separate exam scheduling fee will apply.
Sit the Exam and Receive Your Result
Arrive at the test center on your scheduled date with a valid government-issued photo ID. The exam is entirely computer-based — MCQs displayed on screen. In most cases, your result is available the same day, immediately after completing the exam. If you pass, proceed to license activation.
Activate Your DHA License
After passing, return to the Salama portal and apply for license activation. You will need to submit a medical fitness certificate (from a DHA-approved clinic), police clearance certificate, and Emirates ID (if residing in Dubai). Once activated, you are officially licensed to practice as an OT Technician in Dubai.
The entire process — from Dataflow to receiving your activated license — can take 3 to 6 months. If you have a job offer in Dubai, begin the process during your notice period. The Dataflow verification is the most time-consuming step, so always start there first.

Tips & Common MistakesDo's and Don'ts
✅ Always Do This
- Verify the latest requirements on the official DHA Salama portal before applying
- Start the Dataflow process first — it takes the longest
- Practice MCQs daily — question practice is more effective than reading alone
- Identify your weak topics early and allocate more study time to them
- Arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time
- Bring a valid government-issued photo ID — passport or Emirates ID
- Track your CME credits from day one to simplify license renewal
- Contact the DHA helpline or email for any queries — use official channels only
❌ Avoid These Mistakes
- Do not confuse the Dataflow application with the DHA application — they are separate processes
- Do not study late the night before your exam — rest is more valuable
- Do not rely only on theory — MCQ practice is essential for exam success
- Do not trust unofficial "DHA past papers" from social media — these are often inaccurate
- Do not let your license expire — renewal must begin 3 months before the expiry date
- Do not bring any electronic devices into the test room — phones are strictly prohibited
- Do not start new topics in the final week — focus entirely on revision and mock tests
Exam DayWhat to Do on the Day of Your Exam
The Evening Before
Prepare all required documents — photo ID and your exam confirmation/appointment letter. Avoid studying new topics. Get a full night's sleep. Confirm the test center address and your route in advance.
Morning — 2 Hours Before
Eat a proper meal. Leave for the test center with plenty of time. Wear comfortable clothing — test centers are typically air-conditioned.
30 Minutes Before — Check-In
Present your valid photo ID at reception. You will undergo biometric verification. All personal belongings — phone, wallet, watch — must be placed in a provided locker before entering the exam room.
During the Exam
Read every question carefully before selecting an answer. If a question is difficult, flag it and move on — return to flagged questions before submitting. Manage your time: aim to review all flagged questions in the final 15 minutes. There is typically no negative marking in DHA exams. Review all answers before final submission.
Result
In most cases, your result appears on screen immediately after completion. If you pass, log into the Salama portal to begin license activation. If you do not pass, review your weak areas and plan your re-attempt — you can re-sit after approximately 3 months.
- Mobile phones or any electronic devices
- Books, notes, or any written materials
- Smartwatches or calculators
- Food or drink inside the exam room
Violation of test center rules may result in immediate exam cancellation and a potential ban from re-sitting.
